Queer and Feminist Physical and Critical Self-Defense and Support Bloc of Bodies

WHAT

A five days training that explores how minds, bodies, and voices can be used as tools for critical and physical self-defence in times of violence. This workshop was part of the exhibition Trainings for the Not-Yet (1).

WHY

The training focused on developing collective strategies and tools for self-defence against both mental, emotional and physical patriarchal violences.

HOW

The training explored methods of channelling, embodied listening, collective composition and creation, which can be used as tools for non-physical self defence. Where do we identify violence and aggression in our past and how has this made us fearful? What mistakes have we made in the past towards ourselves and others, and how can we rectify them? What victories do we count and remember? When we think of violence, what is the first thing that comes to mind? Is it verbal? Is it physical? Is it in the public or private sphere? Where do we locate anxiety or pain: in the body or the mind?
