Forms of Reform (2020)

WHAT

An adaptable pants that adjusts to different sizes and shapes, questioning the restrictive nature of clothing, and especially of sports apparel.

WHY

With Forms of Reform, Gabriel Fontana challenges the normative aspects of sports clothing and how it makes us navigate between a double process of individualisation and uniformisation. Sports outfits are uniforms ; when worn, they emphasize group belonging and overlook individuality. However, sports outfits are still clothing items supposed to fit a specific body.

HOW

By contrasting standardised trouser sizes and shapes with individual body shapes, this trouser adapts itself to various people, highlighting the dichotomy that exists between individualisation and uniformisation in sports.
